Project Centurion 

Project centurion is an FPS game set in a futuristic world. Players must put their skills to the test against waves of killer robots in a fight to the death inside a gladiatorial arena where victory seems impossible.... but is it?

Project Centurion was my 1st-year university team game, the team consisted of 11 members including myself, During this project I was the level designer and team leader. 

 

My Role

The level design consisted of multiple platform layout variations, the layouts would be transitional on a particular wave basis. This style of level design coupled with boost pads allows players to move seamlessly around the level whilst blasting enemies bots out of the air. 

During the early stages of the project there became on going disputes between team members forcing individuals apart. This caused the team to lose focus. Seeing the team falling apart I took on the role of team leader, through this I was able to have meetings with individual team members and help settle disputes, as well as put the team back on track with task management.

Reflection

Through my time as the team leader on this project, I gathered a greater understanding of cross-disciplinary communication. As well as task management skills associated with leading and organising a team. Becoming the team leader of this project focused my attention to the possibility of becoming a producer, and what it may entail. 

Due to the hard efforts of the team Project Centurion went on to win the best in our 1st-year category at the annual Falmouth Games Academy show & tell day.
